The word ‘euthanasia’ originates from Greek and translates to ‘easy death’. When all avenues have been exhausted and it is no longer possible to continue with treatment or care for a pet, pet owners want to ensure that their pets have a peaceful, painless and dignified death. The decision of whether or not to end the life of a companion animal must always be in the animal’s best interests.
We appreciate that your fears and concerns are very real and any questions you have about euthanasia should be answered by your vet. There is no such thing as a silly question.
Our accredited pet bereavement counsellors are familiar with the process of canine home euthanasia (including the natural occurrences that happen to our companion animals after euthanasia), it should be remembered that whilst they can explain the process from start to finish, they will only do so to reassure you of the process and this may not be your actual experience of the process - always be guided by your vet.
Some of our accredited counsellors can arrange to accompany you during the euthanasia appointment.
